Diqing Shangri-La Airport (DIG) is located about four kilometers southeast of Shangri-La County and manages the flights between Kunming, Lhasa, Guangzhou and Shanghai. After arriving at the airport, you can take a taxi to downtown and the charge is about CNY 15.
As an important means of transportation, buses are running from Kunming, Dali, Lijiang and Panzhihua.
In Shangri-La, public buses are few while some minibuses to the surrounding towns are more than city buses.
As the town is not big, the taxis are not charged by taximeter. The starting price is RMB 5. Within the downtown are the fare is RMB 5. Going out, you need to expect higher cost.
Horses are provided by local Tibetans. Some attractions can not be reached by cars easily so it is easier to do so on horseback.
