Dali Food and Cuisine
Dali cuisine is famous for the food of Bai and other minorities which offers visitors a chance to have taste of numerous foods and snacks in Yunnan.
Some snacks can be easily found in the streets, such as Dairy Fans, Er Kuai, Ba Ba, Liangji Rice Noodles. And other dishes such as Stewed Carp Casserole, Hot and sour fish can be found in almost every restaurants in Dali.
1. Dairy Fans
Dairy Fans is a food made of milk and yogurt shaped like a fan which are cooked similarly to pancakes as well as steamed and boiled.
2. Er Kuai
Er Kuai is one of the most famous and conventional local foods, a rice-based dish. The rice is first washed, soaked, stewed and then mashed into a paste, before being molded into various lumps, slices and shreds. It is usually grilled over burning charcoals with a sugar, walnut, or sesame filling.
3. Xizhou Town Ba Ba
Xizhou Town Ba Ba is in fact a kind of savory snack made from wheat flour. The dough is first rolled into a cake shape and is then sprinkled with a combination of chopped onions, salt and diced ham before being baked in oil. This local fast-food is favored by both locals and travelers alike.
