Forbidden City will Open More Royal Pavilions and Halls

Forbidden City, China No.1 palace complex, will open more visiting areas to tourists gradually in the following 10 years, announced by Shan Jixiang, the director of China State Administration of Cultural Heritage, on the opening ceremony of Imperial Garden Cultural Festival and the 5th Beijing Park Festival yesterday.

Reportedly, only 30 percent visiting area of Forbidden City could be toured by visitors now. However, this will be changed soon by a newly-launched renovation. After the facelift in 2020, up to 70 percent halls and pavilions of the royal palace will be available to visitors with no extra expense, which will greatly ease the sightseeing crowds and allow visitors enjoying more unbelievable elegance of this brilliant palace.

Forbidden City

The increased part of the Forbidden City will be open gradually in accordance to the renovating schedule. No opening plan is available now. But there will be new notes for visitors on BeijingHoliday.com if any updates regarding to the Forbidden City turn up.

With a history of 600 years, the Forbidden City had been the imperial palace and national center in the previous Ming and Qing Dynasties, where emperors lived and handled the state affairs.
