Tibet has highland temperature semi-arid monsoon climate and vary greatly within one day. Due to its high altitude, Lhasa has over 3,000 hour’s sunshine per year. That's why we call it "City of Sunlight". So make sure you bring sunglasses, sun cream and hat with you when you are in Lhasa.
It has a mild weather all year around and we can simply say there are two seasons - dry season and wet season. The rainfalls often come from July to September, but they unusually happen at night and won't disturb your travel.
The best time to travel Lhasa is from April to October. The climate during this period is humid and warm, not like the dry and windy weather in spring and winter. Spring in Lhasa is from March to May. The weather is not that cold and begin to warm up. However, the temperature is still low during the early spring. The clothes you can bring are long-sleeve shirts, light sweater and jackets.
Lhasa' summer is from June to August. It is sunny all the day and rains at night. It getting humid. The temperaure is of hugh difference before the sunrise and after the sunset. You can prepare summer clothes, but the jackets and sweaters are necessary.
From September to October is Lhasa's Autumn. During this period, the tourists are everywhere the Lhasa streets for the weather is the most comfortable during the year. You can just bring long-sleeve shirts, sweaters and overcoats.
Winter in Lhasa is from November to February. Weather is getting more and more dry and windy. It is not that cold you imagine. Prepare some clothes, such as sweaters, down jackets or pullovers.
