- Itinerary: 1 Day Mutianyu Great Wall and Underground Palace Tour

Jenny was great. She got back to me within 36 hours after every email and usually within 12 hours and answered every question I had fully. Jenny was very helpful and accomodating. I am disabled and unable to walk the Great Wall. The two other tour companies I contacted just said I would be unable to go but Jenny told me about the cable car up the wall and added the cost onto my booking so the guide would know. She was fantastic.
The guide was wonderful. Really informative and friendly and happy to do anything to help even offering to write things in Chinese for us to help with the language barriers - this helped me greatly with a problem I was having buying a train ticket. Unfortuntely our mini bus blew a tire on the way to the last stop but we were able to carry on to our destination and alternative transport was arranged while we were there with no delay. Due to joining another group to be taken to my hotel I forgot to tip Mae but I would be very grateful if you could pass on my apologies for that and great thanks to her for a great day.
The meal at the Jade factory was very enjoyable. Ordinarily you do not expect much when eating in these kinds of places but the it was delicious and there was a large selection of foods to try.
The mini bus was quite clean and a bin was provided which was very good and kept the bus clean. The driver was very good although she didn't speak English she would smile or give you a friendly nod if you made eye contact and she was very patient. She knew her way around very well and was able to take an alternative route when we hit bad traffic. At the Great Wall the authorities wanted us to park up at a great distance from the enterance and the guide got out and persuaded them to let us go ahead. Without this I would have been unable to go to the wall as I am disabled and could not walk there so this was very much appreciated.
Fantastic time on this trip. The Great Wall is just breath takingly brilliant, the Ming Tomb was fascinating and even the silk museum and jade factory were surprisingly interesting and attractive.

Mrs.Amrita (India) asked:
My husband and myself are travelling by Air China from Mumbai to Honolulu via Beijing on Dec 28. We have a 14 hour transit (arrive at 10:50am on Dec 28 and depart at 01.50am on Dec 29). On our way back on Jan 9 from Honolulu, we again have a 14 hour transit in Beijing where we arrive at 05.20am on Jan 9 and our connecting flight is at 19:40pm on Jan 9. Due to our long transit time, we were interested to do some sightseeing in Beijing. A few questions pertaining to the above: 1. Is the free visa applicable during our journey both ways and what is the procedure? 2. Can you give us tentative one day sight seeing options with prices that include pick up and drop to Airport. We would like to cover as much as possible from: Badaling Great Wall, Tiananmen square, Forbidden square, Summer palace, Temple of Heaven, Hutong tour, see a kung fu show, have local lunches and cover some shopping places!! 3. What is the mode of payment?

Carrie replied:

Yes, it is applicable for a visa free trip during your layover. I've sent you an email with the detailed procedure and estimated itinerary with tour price. Please check the details at your convenience.

Emma (UK) asked:
Hi, I will transit at the Beijing airport and stay there from 3pm to 1am. I am interested a tour of the Badaling Great Wall and Forbidden City. Can I have a half day tour to visit these two places? How much would this cost? Is it ok to do this as a solo traveller? Thank you.
Oct.17,2015 19:06
Carrie replied:
Dear Emma,
I'm afraid that you could be able to visit only one place, either Badaling Great Wall or the Forbidden City, as the tourist sites usually are closed at 18:00 during the peak season and at 17:00 during the off season. There is no problem to travel as a solo traveler. I will email you the details later today. Thank you very much.
Best Regards, Carrie,
