Houhai (Shichahai) is Beijing’s newly developed old town of funky nightlife, full of small bars and pubs with character. With the glow of lights over the lake Hohai takes on an unreal feeling – this is where Willy Wonka came to party. Most cafes and restaurants are individually owned and have their own unique style and services. Not to say that they don’t copy each other’s good ideas.

A great place for dinner and then migrate from place to place for drinks. Or a nice stroll with good people watching. A mixture of old Beijing and the modern west, Houhai is worth a look.

The bar is known as the first bar in Houhai. The refreshing venue has a charm that differs from most city bars and keeps it in the favor of the locals. It a nice spot to spend some time with friends and love ones by curling up with the cat and Irish whiskey in winter or kick back with beer in the summer.

During the colder months the bar is kept at a warm temperature through classic wood-burning stoves making you feel right at home.

Blue Lotus bar was esterblished in 1997 with an area of nearly 2,000 square meters, the club owns wine bar, tea room, KTV and inrer-pofessional Standard performing stage with a 15-piece Chinese Instrumental orchestra performing on weekends. Not forgeting it’’s Southeast Asian Flavor restaurant where you can enojoy some dishes like Beef Satay, Barbeque Chicken Wings, Barbecue Squid Arms, and Thai Fish Cake. The bar can be found right next to the Silver-Ingot Bridge providing an amazing view of Houhai Lake.It s a place to catch up with your folks for beer of coctails..However, is a warehouse in which you can almost forget you’re in the basement of The Place shopping mall. The bar is a square affair, providing basic drink-dispensing capabilities; the dance floor is divided into a roomy, raised dais. Unfortunately, Amber only opens a few times a week when there are special parties on.
