Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AVH Foundation), established in 1860, is an organization named after A.von Humboldt, one German scientist. At one time, the capital source of the foundation mainly depended on private donations and the financial assistance from The Royal Society and St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences. The primary mission of the foundation is to financially aid German scholars on academic travel abroad and invite foreign talented and young scientists to come to German universities and scientific research departments for work, meanwhile, to provide scholarships for them.

In the year of 2009, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation organized the "Colloquium for Humboldt Fellow in China".
