About:Zhangjiajie
I want to do a trip to Zhangjiajie during the New Year's Day Holiday and I'm living in Beijing now. Is it okay to visit Zhangjiajie at that time? And how to get there from Beijing?

Hi, Michelle, I visited Zhangjiajie in January, 2014, and it was an amazing experience: no crowds, the snow covered forest, and ice scenery at the bottom of the deep canyons. It was like a fairy world I entered. You can seach on google using the keyword "Zhangjiajie national forest park in winter", and see the pictures in winter. The weather in January is dry and cold, however, since you are living in Beijing, you will feel nothing with the average low temperature of -1 degree and high temperature of 4 degree in Zhangjiajie. Generally, a coat, gloves, and a hat or scarf are necessary to keep you warm, but if you are planning to hike, make sure wear the antiskid shoes with good traction.
There are two direct train from Beijing to Zhangjiajie, and it takes 22-25 hours to get there by train. There is only one direct flight to Zhangjiajie from Beijing departing at 18:35 and arrving at 21:20. The rest are needed to transfer in Changsha, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Hope this helps you.
