The small bridge, running water, and old houses make the water town have special cultural deposits. Considered to be one of the most charming sites in China, many movies are shot here.
Sample Itinerary Overview
Day 1 Beijing Arrival
Welcome to Beijing! Clear the customs and retrieve your baggage by yourself upon arrival, be greeted by our tour guide in the Arrival Hall who is holding a sign on which says your name; transferred by your private car/van to your hotel downtown. The rest of the day is your own time.
Day 2 Beijing ( B, L )
Today you will first visit the world's biggest city plaza, the Tiananmen Square; then walk to the marvelous "Egg" (National Centre for the Performing Arts) to take some pictures from its outside; subsequently, go to the Forbidden City, the most complete imperial palace in China; and later proceed to the impressive Temple of Heaven. After the sightseeing tour driven back to your hotel.
Day 3 Beijing ( B, L, D )
After breakfast, drive to the Badaling Great Wall (about 80 km, 1.5hours) where you will experience at first hand the wonder of the Great Wall. For lunch you'll sample some delicious fare in a local restaurant. Afterwards, visit the Sacred Way and Changling, one of the Ming Tombs; on the way back to your hotel, you might make a stop at the Beijing Olympic Village to take some photos of the Bird's Nest and the Water Cube from the outside; Feel a little bit tired? Not to worry! We will arrange a foot massage (free of charge) for you, just relax and enjoy it! With a Peking Roast Duck dinner you will complete today's tour!
Day 4 Beijing - Shanghai ( B, L )
After breakfast, you’ll marvel at the exquisite Summer Palace, the imperial garden. Your Beijing tour ends. After lunch, take a flight to Shanghai from Beijing. On your arrival at Shanghai airport, your tour guide will meet you and bring you to your hotel in Shanghai. Rest of the day is free for you to explore the metropolis.
Day 5 Shanghai ( B, L )
After breakfast, you will visit the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center, which chronicles Shanghai's past, present and future. You will immerse yourself in the peaceful atmosphere in the Jade Buddha Temple. You will later stroll along the Bund and Nanjing Road. After, you will enjoy a bird's eye view of the modern Shanghai from the Jinmao Tower.
At night, you will go to Xintiandi to experience the fashion atmosphere of the bars by yourself.
Day 6 Wuzhen ( B, L )
In the morning, you will drive to Hangzhou. On the way, you will first pay a visit to Wuzhen, one of the famous water towns in Yangtze River Delta. Taking a boat-cruise on the Lesser Canal of the Grand Canal, you will be caught up in the mood of the romance of this ancient water town. Afterwards you will continue your drive to Hangzhou. After checking into your hotel is free at leisure.
Day 7 Hangzhou ( B, L )
Today, you will enjoy a full-day excursion to the romantic West Lake with a boat cruise, the Lingyin Temple and the Huqingyutang (Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum). Taking a stroll along the commercial streets here, you will get closer to the life of the local people. With the visit to a Tea Plantation Farm, you will complete today's program. Afterwards you will drive back to Shanghai.
Day 8 Shanghai Departure ( B )
Depending on your departure flight schedule, you may pay a visit to the People's Square and the Shanghai Museum then the tour guide would escort you to the airport to return Beijing City or to the next destination.
