- Zhujiajiao is an ancient water town shining like a pearl on the Dianpu River, famous for its well-preserved Ming and Qing Dynasty architecture, ancient bridges, and quaint courtyards. Walking along the zigzag of narrow streets and past the shops in the center of town, you'll see how the locals really live as they go about their daily labors, sit in the sun and chat, or play cards with their neighbors.
Sample Itinerary Overview
Day 1 Beijing Arrival
Welcome to Beijing! Clear the customs and retrieve your baggage by yourself upon arrival, be greeted by our tour guide in the Arrival Hall who is holding a sign on which says your name; then you will be transferred back to your downtown hotel. The rest of the day is your own time.
Day 2 Beijing ( B, L )
Today you will first visit the world's biggest city plaza, the Tiananmen Square; then walk to the marvelous "Egg" (National Centre for the Performing Arts) to take some pictures from its outside; subsequently, go to the Forbidden City, the most complete imperial palace in China; and later proceed to the impressive Temple of Heaven. After today's tour, you will be driven back to your hotel to have a good rest.
Day 3 Beijing ( B, L, D )
Today you will be picked up by your personal tour guide and then drive to the Badaling Great Wall (about 80 km, 1.5hours) which is the most visited one among all the Great Wall sections.And it is the highlight and the most excellent section builted in Ming Dynasty. For lunch you'll sample some delicious fare in a local restaurant. Afterwards, visit the Sacred Way and Changling, one of the Ming Tombs; on the way back to your hotel, you might make a stop at the Beijing Olympic Village to take some photos of the Bird's Nest and the Water Cube from the outside.Feel a little bit tired? Not to worry! We will arrange a foot massage (free of charge) for you, just relax and enjoy it!
Day 4 Beijing - Shanghai ( B )
Today you'll be picked up by your personal tour guide and then marvel at the exquisite Summer Palace, the imperial garden. After today's tour, you'll be escorted to the airport to take a flight to Shanghai from Beijing.
Day 5 Shanghai ( B, L )
Today you'll be picked up by your personal tour guide and then visit the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center, which chronicles Shanghai's past, present and future. You will immerse yourself in the peaceful atmosphere in the Jade Buddha Temple. You will later stroll along the Bund and Nanjing Road. After, you will enjoy a bird's eye view of the modern Shanghai from the Jinmao Tower.
At night, you will go to Xintiandi to experience the fashion atmosphere of the bars by yourself.
Day 6 Zhujiajiao Water Town ( B, L )
Today you will be picked up by your personal tour guide and then visit historic Zhujiajiao village (50 minute drive from Shanghai). At Zhujiajiao, you will walk through Fangsheng Bridge, Beida Street, and the Xi Family Residence. You will feel as though you have stepped back in time. After your trip to this beautiful village, you will be driven back to Shanghai.
Day 7 Shanghai Departure ( B )
Today you will be free at first, and then you will escorted to the airport to catch your flight to the next destinations. Service ends.
