I visited Fragrant Hills on business. The Chinese are very proud of this resort as it was designed by a famous Chinese architect. The staff ware helpful, and the central glass roofed atrium was impressive if hot! Outside there is plenty to see with a huge hill to climb for amazing views and a whole park full of preserved buildings. The rooms are basic, and you are holidaying as the Chinese do, which is fine. The public facilities give an 'interesting' insight into everyday life!

The park has a chairlift that will run you up and down the hill or you can walk, of course. There are some old pavilions and pagodas set amongst the trees and it's a great place for a picnic, especially for those who like the outdoors. Plenty of tourist tat for sale both inside and out, and all the usual facilities you'd expect in a tourist spot.
The park is beautiful, especially in autumn. If you are touring in Beijing and the weather is fine, this makes a good day out.
